We have a loaded week this week. It's E-Week!!! Marquette, in conjunction with Discovery World, is hosting a week of activities and speakers in order to increase understanding of Engineering and technology. Check out our Facebook page for more information on the weeks events. Sigma Phi Delta will help promote the weeks spirit by proctoring the Engineering Scholarship Exam this Saturday for prospective incoming freshman.

Also, this Saturday Engineering Student Council is holding its annual ESC Ball this Saturday at 8pm. This event is open to Engineers and their significant others; look for information on ticket sales.

In unrelated news, there is a Men's (HOME) Basketball Game this Wednesday against Rutger. Not that there's any competition, but remember to show your Marquette spirit this Wednesday and cheer on the team. Go MARQUETTE!!!

First off I'd like to extend a warm welcome to the 10 bright individuals who who chose to join our Brotherhood on Friday. Throughout the semester they will be learning of the history, traditions, professionalism and Brothers that made (and still make) our fraternity what it is today. Speaking from experience I know it'll be a memorable semester for them.

Next, a happy belated Marquette Day to everyone! It was a busy day for all, with tours and alumni everywhere, and a basketball game to top of the days events. Among these events some of our Brothers volunteered their time to the College of Engineering Alumni Association Silent Auction and Raffle (which needless to say was a success). The funds gathered at this event will go towards scholarships offered by the Alumni Board, so on behalf of those of us who rely on these scholarships for their Marquette education, thank you to all who attended.

And what a week its been - our grand "Rushee" total this semester was about 33 (a record I believe). Thanks for showing interest guys. Unfortunately we can't take all of you, but if you don't get a bid this semester you are more than welcome to try again next semester - if anything that puts you at the top of our list.

I'll take this moment to give a shout out to Ron Vick, our Rush Chair who put together this weeks string of successful events. I'd also like to thank all the Alumni who were able to make our Professional Event on Thursday and all the Brothers who participated in this weeks events.

This week is (finally) the fraternity Rush Week!! Even if you're only slightly interested in joining Greek Life, I highly encourage you male Engineering students to visit at least one of our events and give us a chance. Here is the line-up for the week (details can be found on our Recruitment page):

Monday - OPEN HOUSE: take a tour of our house and use the opportunity to ask any of our Brothers any questions or concerns you may have. This is a meet and greet opportunity with our active members.

Tuesday - WING NIGHT: stop by before the game for some Buffalo Wild Wings. Then catch the shuttle to the game from the Annex.

Wednesday - BASKETBALL: Take a break and play some ball with members of Sigma Phi Delta.

Thursday - PROFESSIONAL NIGHT: This is a meet and greet opportunity with a few of our Alumni. We will also be announcing the winner of the Book Scholarship this night, so be there if you sent your essay in.

Friday - STOCKY'S GO CARTS: What better way to end the week than with Go-Cart Racing and pizza. Join us for a good time.

Also, our Book Scholarship Competition is still going on. If you want a little extra for the books then I highly recommend giving it a shot. The scholarship competition is open to all MALE, FRESHMAN ENGINEERING STUDENTS.

We are having a Blood Drive this Wednesday in the AMU Ballroom from 11am to 7pm. Join us as we work to save lives with every pint of blood we collect.

Our Rush week events will start on Jan 30th - if you want to plan ahead you can see our list of events on our Recruitment page. We'll be at Carpenter this Friday so hope to see some of you there.

Welcome back everyone!! Hope you all enjoyed the break - now its time to get back into the swing of school again.

Good things are happenning in the coming weeks. First off Winter O-fest is coming up on January 19th (4pm to 6pm in the AMU Ballroom), a perfect opportunity to check out all the extracuriculars Marquette has to offer as well as a chance to check out the Greek Life - look for us there.

Secondly, Rushing for all Greek life begins January 27th and goes through to February 4th. Greeks all around campus will be offering events to potential rushees, but don't forget to check out Sig Phi's events - look for the posters and check our Rush page for the most up to date info on our Rush week.

Third, some of you may notice that our site has been updated. Unfortunately there are some problems with IE so if you are having trouble viewing the homepage - its being worked on. For those that can see it, a feature to note is the new feed: to make it work, just click once on it and use the arrow keys to go through past feeds. Hopefully for features and functionality to come. If theres any suggestions of what we can add to the site to give you what you need to know, feel free to drop a suggestion on our facebook page.

Its been a stellar week for Marquette as the Golden Eagles dominated the Mountaineers. We've got another home game coming up on Monday - hope to see you there. Other than the game, this week doesn't look to exciting; however next week is Thanksgiving and I'm pretty sure we could all use a break. Hold steady another week and keep the Marquette spirit up - GO MARQUETTE!!

We've had an exciting weekend thus far. Friday two of our brothers, Peter Schmalz and Will Kassel, played in the Jazz Band concert and jazzed the crowd. Great performance from them and all their fellow players. This weekend we were also visited by our Brothers from U of I for 2 nights of bonding.

This week the road begins on 11/11/11 - hope to see you all at the game. Look for picture updates this week and a snippet of the Jazz show from Friday. As usual, meets will be listed on the feed. Enjoy the week everyone!

Another week gone, another week coming. Hope everyone is enjoying Halloween weekend. This week is advising week so get ready to meet with your advisors and plan for the Spring.

On an added note, the facebook feed is back up so meetings and updates will be posted there once again.

Hope everyone enjoyed a little R and R. This week looks to be an easy one as we ease back into the routine. Since the FB feed is currently out of commission, here's this weeks scheduled meetings as I know them: Greek Bowling on Monday, Intramural Softball on Thursday, SAE meeting on Friday and Football on Sunday.

Everyone keep warm and stay safe during the upcoming Halloween weekend.

I'll keep it short this week: 3 days of class, 4 days of break. Ace those midterms and enjoy the break everybody!

Another eventful week is coming to a close. Now that we're just about halfway through the semester, Midterm week is fast approaching. For those of you with midterms: study hard, take advantage of office hours, make study groups and ace those exams. Those of you that don't, well you have it worse since you have to count down til break. Have a great week everyone and, as usual, meetings and last minutes event will be posted on Facebook (and to the right).

Our fraternity is expanding; in Harrisonburg, VA we have a colony of 14 in James Madison University soon to become a chapter in early Spring (James Madison Colony pictured below). To the North-east we have the State Universty of New York, Stony Brook in Stony Brook, NY with 14 Engineering students looking to start colonization on October 22nd.

In other news, the College of Engineering is hosting an Open House for the Discovery Learning Complex (DLC) this Friday, October 7th. I'd also like to take this opportunity to applaud John Dey and all who helped in making yesterdays Fall Formal such a great night - nice job guys. Any meetings and last minute updates for the week will be posted in the news feed on the right. Have a great rest of the week!

After an exciting first few weeks, things are finally starting to slow down a bit. In order to help spread the presence Sigma Phi Delta across the web, our chapter now has a Facebook like page (as seen on the right). Please feel free to hit the like button - spread the word about our fraternity. This facebook page will be used to list future meetings and events such as Engineering Student Council meetings and such. Eventually an rss feed will be posted for personal use.

This week Marquette is hosting three career fairs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. In particular, Thursday September 29th from 1pm to 5 in the AMU Ballroom will be the Technical Career Fair for Engineering, Computer Science, and IT Industry. Remember to dress professionally, bring copies of your resume, and research your ideal employers. Happy job hunting to all.

First and foremost, I'd like to take the opportunity to welcome Sigma Phi Delta's Fall 2011 pledge class. Over the course of the semester they will learn about our brotherhood and the Brothers past and present that made it what it is today.

Brigg and Al's Run was just yesterday (Saturday). A few of our brothers participated in the event and we all had a good time. The 2nd Annual Freshman Get-Together was also a great time -- good food and good fun for everyone. Hopefully the tradition continues.

Upcoming Events: Engineering Student Council will be holding a meeting at 8pm at Olin 202 on Monday - if you want to be involved don't hesitate to come. On Tuesday Rockwell Automation will be hosting its annual Corn Roast at 4pm under the Olin Overhang. This is a great opportunity to talk to real engineers in the work force and enjoy some good corn - be there!! Finally, friday is the inauguration of Marquette's new president, Father Pilarz - look around for posters of the day's events.

Finally, a messege to all freshman engineers. On Friday September 16th the College of Engineering will be holding its second annual Freshman Get-Together. This event is mandatory for all freshman engineering students, but expect to have a good time and expect to hear from several engineering organizations including (but not limited to) Sigma Phi Delta, Engineering Student Council, and the engineering sorority Alphi Omega Epsilon.

Rush week is finally here! Come join Sigma Phi Delta for a week of fun. Use this as an opportunity to learn more about our members, history, Alumni and any other questions you may have. All our events are free to you. The schedule is as follows:

Thursday: Ultimate Frisbee. Join us in a game of ultimate at Shroeder Field (5pm - 7)

Friday: Mini Golf and Batting Cages. End the week with some fun at Prairieville Park (5:30pm - 9) - PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY AS WE WILL BE LEAVING BY 5:45PM!!

Welcome back to all returning students at Marquette and welcome to the freshman. Here's hoping everyone had a great summer and is ready to start their fall semester. Sigma Phi Delta kicked off the school year yesterday with its first annual Pig Roast - a success and good time for everyone that attended.
